5 reasons customers choose Flow by hipSwan

  • Serious sole grip — silicone grip dots help you feel steady on the reformer, mat and studio floor
  • Focus on your practice — less distraction from slipping, bunching or uncomfortable socks
  • Soft yet robust — organic combed cotton and fully cushioned footbed for a thicker, more comfortable sock feel
  • Support through movement — a gently supportive arch band promotes circulation and a secure fit
  • Fully fitted foot coverage — 3 sizes and a contoured fit helps you keep focus during demanding movements

Your Pilates, yoga or barre session might be the only hour in the day that is fully yours. Your socks should help you enjoy it — not distract you from it.

Flow Crew is our organic cotton crew grip sock, designed to help you feel steady, supported and comfortable through controlled movement.

Silicone grip dots across the sole help reduce sliding on the reformer, mat and studio floor, while the soft organic combed cotton knit feels substantial, breathable and comfortable without being bulky.

The crew height gives extra coverage and warmth around the ankle and lower leg, making Flow Crew a strong choice for Pilates, yoga, barre, stretching and post-class wear.

So instead of thinking about slipping, adjusting your socks or cold feet, you can focus on your form, your breath and the quality of your movement.

Highlights of Flow Crew's key features:

  • Higher crew length for added warmth & coverage
  • High-density silicone grip sole for extra traction and stability
  • Toxin-free GOTS certified organic combed cotton base for softness & breathability
  • Arch support band that gently hugs your foot
  • Fully cushioned footbed for better shock absorption
  • Seamless toes to eliminate irritation
  • 3 sizes for a better fit
  • Classic designs and colours suitable for men and women

composition and care

Composition: 78% GOTS-certified organic combed cotton, 13% recycled nylon, 5% recycled polyester, 4% elastane

Care instructions:

Be gentle. Either hand wash or machine wash in cold water on the gentle cycle. If using a machine, it's best to place them in a laundry bag to protect them further just like other delicates. Use a mild detergent and never use bleach. Refrain from using fabric softener.

Wash inside out. This way, the extra cushioning at the soles and heels will get a more thorough wash and the outer finish will be less subject to friction.

Do not use a dryer. The heat and circulation of a dryer will decrease the longevity of your socks. Best to air dry them on a drying rack.

Do not iron. There's no need to iron socks, and it's especially important to refrain from ironing those styles with silicone grippers.

sizing

hipSwan socks generally come in three sizes: small, medium, and large. Where we offer only a single "one size fits most" it is the equivalent of medium.

hipSwan socks are suitable for men and women.

Sizes are based on the sock's foot length in centimetres, and are provided as a range due to socks having inherent elasticity.

For your convenience, the following chart maps our socks' length ranges onto approximate shoe sizes using US shoe size scales:

What if the socks I order don’t fit me?

No problem, you have 60 days to return them. Just pay the return postage and we’ll refund you, no questions asked. The socks must be in new, unworn condition with the original wrappers included. Full details of our return policy are here.

Returns

hipSwan places a high priority on delivering outstanding customer service, and this extends to those rare instances when customers need to return their socks (historically, less than 3% of customers have returned their socks, the vast majority due to sizing issues).

We are committed to your satisfaction and offer a liberal returns policy:

  • We offer a 60-day return window
  • For your convenience, we have a US-based returns facility
  • Returned items must be in a new and unused condition together with all tags and original packaging intact. If your items have been used and cannot be restocked as new, please do not send them back to us. Doing so will lead to further expense and wastage, as they must be disposed.

  • Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Our logistics partner normally requires 2 - 3 business days to confirm receipt and inspect the items included in your return package.

Please note that we don't have control over when your credit card or other payment provider will reflect the refund/credit on your account.

If you wish to initiate a return, please contact our customer service at cs@hipswan.com (referencing your order number) and we'll send you detailed instructions including the address to which you should send your items.

Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges. If you prefer another color or style, you would have to return the original pair(s) and place a new order.

Why Flow costs more — and why that matters

Made for the session you look forward to

Basic grip socks can do the job for a class or two, but many feel thin, synthetic or distracting once you start moving.

Flow costs more because we put more into the details that matter during your practice: soft GOTS-certified organic combed cotton, silicone sole grips, supportive arch shaping, full foot coverage and a dense knit designed for repeat wear.

The result is a grip sock that helps you feel steady, comfortable and focused — so the hour you set aside for Pilates, yoga or barre feels better from start to finish.

We're sock obsessed!

Why buy from hipSwan?

hipSwan factory visit
On-site quality checks at our sock factory — small batches, personal inspection, and constant product improvement.

There are a lot of sock brands out there. So why buy from us?

At hipSwan, we’re deep in the weeds on how to make better socks.

We’re a small company focused 100% on socks, and we think that’s an advantage for our customers. Big brands often design for the mass market and a target price point. We produce in limited batches because we listen carefully to customer feedback to keep improving the product.

We also choose responsible materials and production partners wherever we can — GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified factories with documented energy conservation and waste management policies.

The results so far: 20,000+ customers since 2021 have trusted hipSwan for better everyday socks. Their 1,200+ 5-star reviews and a strong repurchase rate show that the quality holds up after long-term wear.

Frequently asked questions

Is Flow good for Pilates?

Yes. Flow was designed for Pilates, reformer and mat work, with silicone sole grips to help you feel steadier through controlled movement. The soft organic cotton knit and supportive fit help you stay comfortable, so you can focus on your form rather than your socks.

Can I use Flow for yoga and barre too?

Yes. Flow is also well suited to yoga, barre, stretching and other low-impact studio movement where grip, comfort and focus matter.

What makes Flow different from ordinary grip socks?

Flow combines serious sole grip with soft organic combed cotton, supportive shaping and a more substantial sock feel. It is designed to feel comfortable and secure through your full session — not just add grip underfoot.

What is the difference between Flow Crew and Flow (Ankle)?

Flow Crew has a higher crew fit with more ankle and lower-leg coverage. Flow Ankle has a lower-cut ankle fit and includes internal silicone heel grips to help keep the sock in place around the heel.

Should I choose Flow Crew or Flow Ankle?

Choose Flow Crew if you prefer more coverage, warmth and a classic studio-sock feel. Choose Flow Ankle if you prefer a lighter, lower-cut fit with internal heel grips to help reduce slipping and bunching around the heel. You might like both, in fact, at different times of the year and under different studio conditions.

Will Flow Ankle stay on my heel?

Flow Ankle includes internal silicone heel grips designed to help reduce slipping and bunching around the heel. As with any lower-cut sock, choosing the right size gives the best fit.

Do the grips cover the whole sole?

Flow grip socks have silicone grip dots across the sole to help provide traction during movement on smooth indoor studio floors, mats and reformers.

Are these non-slip socks?

Flow is designed to provide better traction than ordinary socks on smooth indoor surfaces, but no sock can prevent every slip on every surface. Use extra care on wet, dusty or uneven floors.

Can I wear Flow grip socks with shoes?

Yes, but Flow is primarily designed for barefoot-style movement and smooth indoor surfaces. The silicone sole grips may feel noticeable inside tighter shoes. Having said that, some customers wear them inside shoes to increase traction in sports requiring quick shifting, like basketball, soccer and racquet sports.

How should I choose my size?

Choose your usual hipSwan size. If you are between sizes and want a snug studio fit, especially for Pilates or reformer work, consider sizing down.

How do I wash them?

Machine wash cold or warm with similar colours. Avoid bleach and tumble drying where possible to help protect the cotton fibres and silicone grips.
